My name is Komninou Irene and I was born
at 1982 in Athens. I am a student at the Electrology dept of Heraklion
Technological Institute and my dream is to provoke a general black out
in the country for at least 5 hours. I believe that this is enough to
stare at the beautiful sky without the trouble of light pollution. I
am incurably hooked with space and technology. I love astronomy because
it answered Asterix's and Ovelix's question: "Is the sky going to fall
on our heads?"
I am a member of Society
for Astronomy and Space, based in the city of Volos, which is the
first amateur astronomers society established in Greece. The Society
publishes a quarterly magazine named "Ouranos" (Sky) in which I am a
columnist. I am also member in one of the biggest virtual space agencies,
VUSSP, as a mission controller and a member of the first Greek amateur
supernova hunting group. I am also a member of ESA's SSETI
programme (Student Space Exploration & Technology Initiative) as an
electrical engineer in ESEO's EPS team. Finally I search for "little
green men" through Seti@home. For the moment I own a Konus 114mm f/4.4
Newtonian telescope, an SLR Zenit 120 camera, a Creative PC-CAM 880
web camera and a Nikon D50 camera.
May the Force be with you!!
